Modem Responds with No Answer Message
If you are getting a "No Answer" message from your modem when connecting to Quadnet, here is an option that you might try:
In Windows 95/98 go into "My Computer", double click on "Dial-Up Networking",
Click with the right Mouse button on your Quadnet Dial-up icon.
Choose properties from the menu that pops up:
Click "Configure" button where your modem is listed to bring up your modem settings.
Click the tab labeled "Connections" and then the "Advanced" button at the lower right.
In the use error control section you will see a "Compress Data" check box.
Click on the box to remove the checkmark, if this box has a checkmark in it,
Then click all the "OK" buttons on the windows to close them. DO NOT choose cancel or changes that you made will not be saved.
This has seemed to decrease/eliminate the "No Answer" messages we have seen on some models of modems.
