Setting Up Your Modem
If your modem is unable to initialize when attempting to sign on there may be an error in your modem configuration.
1. Click on the Apple icon 
located in the upper left corner of the screen. A menu will appear:

2. Scroll down the menu and hover the mouse over the option Control Panels. An additional menu will appear to the right.
3. Scroll down and click on the Modem option. A new window will appear:
4. Enter the modem type by clicking on the small arrows and scrolling up or down until the correct modem is found.Most new Macintosh computers have an Apple Internal 56K modem. In addition, indicate whether your phone uses Tone or Pulse when dialing.
