Win 95/98 Troubleshooting:

Is your NIC configured properly? (Go to: Start-Settings-Control Panel-System-Device Manager-Network Adapter). Make sure your card is configured properly, if there is a yellow circle with an exclamation point in it then reinstall the drivers for it.

Are the "sys" and "dsl" lights lit to green on the modem?

Do you have a green light lit on the network card next to the network cable jack?

Are you able to access other devices on your internal network?

Go to Start - Run and type: winipcfg

    Click the "more info" button

Does the config info match the TCP/IP info you entered in the Network TCP/IP settings window? (Go to: Start-Settings-Control Panel-Network-TCP/IP-IP Address tab)

Ping your IP address - did it return a value? timeout? Open a DOS window (Go to:Start-Programs-MSDOS Prompt) and type ping and then your address <xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx>

Ping the gateway - did it return a value? timeout?

Ping the DNS - did it return a value? timeout?

Note that "Ping" comes with Windows. Macintosh users can download the shareware program MacPing from the Internet.
