Setting Up Your ADSL For The First Time:

    Be sure the Power switch is in the OFF position

    Plug the ADSL modem into the phone jack from the "DSL" port on the back of the ADSL modem. Use the smaller RJ11 telephone cable.

    Then plug the RJ-45 patch cord from the Ethernet Connection "ENET" port on the back of the modem into the Network Interface Card (NIC) that is installed on your PC or MAC. Use the RJ45 cable which is a straight-through cable.You need a crossover cable for connecting the modem to an ethernet hub.

    Run the power supply from a surge protected outlet to the "Power Connection" port on the back of the ADSL modem.

    Press the Power switch to turn on the modem.

    The modem is equipped with four LEDs on the front panel:

    The "sys" LED should turn solid green after passing diagnostic tests. The "dsl" LED should turn solid green after establishing a DSL link and the line is trained. The "enet" LED will turn solid green when a link is detected and flashing green when Ethernet traffic is flowing. The "atm" LED will flash indicating traffic flow.

Setting Up Network Properties In Windows 95/98:

    First, you must have the network card installed. See the manufacturer's instructions on doing so.

    Click on the Windows 95/98 Start button, select the "Settings" option, and select "Control Pannel." Then Double-click on the "network" icon. This will bring up a dialogue box labeled "Network"

    Make sure the "Configuration" tab on top is selected, and that your network card and "TCP/IP" are listed in the Network Devices box. If they are not listed, consult the manufacturers instructions that are distributed with the network card.

    Double-click on the TCP/IP line in the white box. This should bring up a window labeled "TCP/IP properties".


 

Add the Gateway Address that you were assigned.

    Select the tab labeled "IP Address" and select the radio button labeled "Specify an IP Address".

    Type in your IP Address and Subnet Mask.


Add your IP Address and Subnet Mask that you were assigned.

   
Select the "Gateway" tab. Type in your gateway address. Click the 'Add' button.



    Select the "DNS Configuration" tab. Select the radio button labeled "Enable DNS".

    Type in your Computer Name.

   
Type in quadnet.net for the Domain.

   
Under the "Domain Server Search Order", type in 66.187.144.3 and click add, type in 66.187.130.31 and click add.

   Under the "Domain Suffix Search Order", Type in neptune.quadnet.net and click add, type in ns1.hostremote.net and click add.

    Click OK, and follow Windows' instructions for rebooting your computer.

Setting up ADSL for Macintosh:

  
 Go to the Apple menu at the top left corner of your screen.
   Select "Control Panels".
   Select "TCP/IP".
   Within the TCP/IP window select "Connect via: Ethernet".
   Select "Configure Manually" within the "Setup:" area in the TCP/IP window.
   For "IP Address" enter in your IP address that you were assigned.
   For "Subnet Mask" enter the subnet mask that you were assigned.
   For "Router address" enter your gateway address that you were assigned.
   For "Name Server addr." enter 66.187.144.3 and 66.187.130.31 in that order.
   Under "Search Domains:" enter neptune.quadnet.net and ns1.hostremote.net in that order.
